Fox River receding slows, but still falling; chance of more rain in forecast

The Fox River continues to recede as measured at the New Munster gauge, but at a rate a little bit slower than recent days.

At 8 p.m. Tuesday, the river was measured at 13.56, about 6 inches less than Monday evening’s level.

The current National Weather Service forecast for the river calls for the level to be back under flood stage of 11 feet vet early on Monday, July 24.

A flood warning continues to be in effect.

That progress might be impaired by a persistent chance of rain in the NWS forecast Tuesday night through Sunday.
