Fox River over 17 feet; appears to still be rising

The Fox River, as measured at the New Munster gauge, rose over 17 feet this morning.

The previous record from 2008 was 15.2 feet.

The latest observation at the gauge as of this writing was 17.36 feet at 9 a.m.

The forecast for New Munster is for the river to reach a crest of 17.6 feet later Thursday.

Upstream, the measurements at the Burlington gauge show the river level falling as of this morning.

    You should check the Kenosha News archives from 1986. I believe it may have tied that year.

    1. Based on the National Weather Service data, this is the highest crest ever at the current New Munster gauge. I am not sure how old that gauge is. On their list of historic crests, their oldest date is from 1995.
