Paddock-Hooker Lake Association to host decorated boat parade July 3

The Paddock-Hooker Lakes Association is reviving a decorated boat parade on Paddock Lake this summer.

The parade will take place on July 3. Registration will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. that day at the PHLA beach. Line up for the parade will take place at 6 p.m. in the cove by the PHLA beach. There is no entry fee, however donations will be accepted at the registration table to go toward the annual fireworks show funded by the Westosha Kiwanis Club.

The parade is open to anyone who wants to participate, said Scott Garland, a representative of the PHLA who gave an update on the event to the Paddock Lake Village Board on Tuesday. There is no set theme.

“We’re open to anything,” Garland said of boat decorations.

Prizes will be awarded to the top decorated boats, Garland said. A panel of judges will select the winners.

The parade route will start in the cove by the PHLA beach, go through the channel, then circle the lake, Garland said.

Village officials were supportive of the event coming back after having lapsed for several years.

“This will be exciting to bring this back,” Burns said.

Said Garland: “We’re looking forward to it. We’re glad to have the village’s support.”
