Ilsa Lofty wins award in Wisconsin State Music Association Composition Project

Paris School seventh grader Ilsa Lofty has been awarded Best Instrumental Ensemble, and was named overall Middle School Division Winner, by the Wisconsin State Music Association’s annual Composition Project, for her piece “3,455,261 Meters”.

The suite was written at the John Adams Young Composers program in Berkley, California, in 2016. She studied in California under the guidance of Matthew Cmiel, and continues her instruction with Paris’s band and music director, Ben Warmuth.

As Division Winner, Ilsa will be honored at a June reception at the Wisconsin Center for Musical Education.
