Student production of Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID JR. playing at Riverview School May 6 and 7

Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID JR. is playing at Riverview School in Silver Lake on May 6 and 7.

The 90-minute musical, designed for middle-school aged performers, is based on the 2008 Broadway production and the 1989 animated feature film.

The Riverview Drama Club’s cast consists of 34 students led by Julie Strasser.

“The students have been working hard since October to make this production fun and entertaining,” Strasser said. “They are a great group of hardworking, dedicated students who cannot wait to share their talent with their family, friends, and the community. It has been a real privilege working with this talented group.”

This classic Disney title contains all of the songs from the Academy Award® winning animated feature film as well as three new songs from the Broadway show. THE LITTLE MERMAID JR. takes place in a magical kingdom beneath the sea, where a beautiful young mermaid named Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she’ll have to defy her father, the king of the sea, escape the clutches of an evil sea witch and convince a prince that she’s the girl with the perfect voice.

A performance of Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID JR. is open to the public at Riverview School on Saturday, May 6, at 5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students, children under 3 are free. There will also be a special Sunday Matinee at 1 p.m. where  a special senior citizen and Veteran admission to the community of $1 will be offered. Adults under age 55 will still be $5, $3 for students, and children under 3 are free.
