Rep. Kerkman comments on presidential visit

State Rep. Samantha Kerkman (R-Salem Lakes) issued the following statement about President Donald Trump’s visit to Kenosha Tuesday:

Any time the President comes to town, regardless of political identity, it is a big deal. I think that a reason Kenosha County voted Republican in 2016 for the first time since 1972 was because of his promise of keeping jobs and bringing back lost jobs to the United States. Over the last 3 years there have been numerous companies announcing a move to Kenosha County, bringing nearly 8,400 jobs back to the area. The Executive Order that President Trump signed today will hopefully only add to that number.”

Live news coverage of the signing of the executive order at the Snap-on headquarters showed Kerkman on stage with Trump during the signing.

In his comments, Trump also was critical of Canadian policy regarding dairy products that is hurting some Wisconsin dairy farmers that shipped milk there for cheese production,

Kerkman’s district includes most of Western Kenosha County.
