National Weather Service offering Severe Weather Safety and Spotter Training April 12

National Weather Service Milwaukee 2017 Severe Weather Safety and Spotter Training Class will take place Wednesday, April 12 at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Gateway Technical College, Room T127, 3520 30th Ave., Kenosha.

First Hour:  Severe Weather Safety.

Second Hour:  Storm Spotter Training.

Topics to be covered include: Tornado Safety & Storm spotting safety, how to get information quickly, Wisconsin’s Tornado History, damaging wind safety, flash flood safety, lightning safety, hail safety, what weather should be reported, why does the NWS need spotters, when should you report, how should you report, radar interpretation, storm features and safety.

Training will be led by a National Weather Service meteorologist and is free and open to the public. There is no obligation to become a storm spotter.  Everyone is welcome to stay for both courses.  Pre-registration is not needed but recommended.
