Central HS cheer win 2017 state and regional titles

Westosha Central High School finished first in the Large Varsity Division at the Wisconsin Association of Cheer/Pom Coaches State Competition  Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.

While there, the team earned 114.2 out a possible 120 points. The team earn the highest points of the season in the competition Saturday. At State, Jaden McKenna’s solo performance landed her a spot on the All-State team for the third year in a row. The stunt group of Hannah Hogan, Krissy Swatkowski, Layne Schroeder, and Rebecca Glassen placed second.

On Feb. 18, the team competed at the Wisconsin Association of Cheer/Pom Coaches Regional Competition at Wilmot Union High School. The team won the Large Varsity Division allowing them to advance to State. In addition to the team advancing to state, the team had two stunt groups qualify to compete at State. The stunt group of Hannah Hogan, Krissy Swatkowski, Layne Schroeder, and Rebecca Glassen placed first. The stunt group of Lauren LaPlant, Lindsay Mazurek, Sara Hebior, and Madi Hansen placed third. At Regionals, Lauren Shane and Jaden McKenna were also announced as All State finalists for their video submissions for the All State Team.

Westosha cheer has now won the title of Southern Lakes Conference Champions, Regional Champions, and State Champions three years in a row.
