Five area organizations are teaming up to send formula to an orphanage in Haiti.

Several doctors and a team of medical professionals Dennis McCreary, MD (Primary Care), Joel McCreary, DO (Anesthesiologist ), Daniel Liesen, MD (General Surgeon ) will go on a medical mission trip this summer to Haiti where  infant mortality is 59 deaths per 1,000 live births, one of the worst in the western hemisphere. It is 10 times higher than the United States which is 6.1 per 1,000 live births.

This drive will be held through Feb. 14. Drop off points for new and unopened formula:

  • Family Pediatrics 3601 30th Ave., Kenosha.
  • Dr. Daniel Liesen 20 Tower Court Suite A, Gurnee, Ill.
  • Dennis McCreary 3115 Lewis Ave. Zion, Ill.

The sponsoring organizations for this baby formula drive are:

  • Marleighs Ministry, a Bristol-based, gospel-centered organization that strives to meet the needs of families suffering through the tragedy of prematurity.
  • Living Hope Farm.
  • Family Pediatrics (Dr. Tahir, Board Certified Pediartician and Clinical Director).
  • Graphics Inc.

Ebenezer Glenn Orphanage in Dessalines, Haiti is more than your average orphanage. They have their own well for clean water, a school on campus as well as a church and a medical clinic. They take in children who have no families and many times encourage families to keep their children when they want to bring them to the orphanage. Most families have people to love the children but no money to care for them. At those times, EGO provides the formula for the babies.

“That is where we come in and can help,” said Jill Gillmore of Marleighs Ministry. “Donating formula to this orphanage saves lives and keeps families together.”
