A benefit for a local 13-year-old girl with a life-threatening brain disease will take place today, Sunday, Jan. 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The fundraiser for Carlie Winslow will take place at Sandlots Grill & Pub, 9251 Antioch Road, Salem. Adults $5. Meal is sloppy Joes and fixings. There also will be a bake sale, silent auctions and raffle.
Carlie has been stricken with Moyamoya, a rare progressive disease caused by blocked blood vessels and arteries. Blood flow in her brain is constricted and has caused her to suffer strokes of varying severity. So far, the Salem School eighth grader has had three brain surgeries and the doctors have stated her need for more.
Proceeds of the fundraiser will help relieve the financial burden from Carlie’s family.
Donations also may be sent to: Carlie Winslow Fight Against Moyamoya, State Bank of the Lakes, 440 Lake Street, Antioch Ill 60002 (847-395-2900). Checks should be made out to: “Carlie Winslow c/o State Bank of the Lake”.
