State Sen. Van Wanggaard (R-Racine) has been reappointed as Chair of the State Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety for the upcoming 2017-18 legislative session.
In addition to chairing the Judiciary and Public Safety Committee, Wanggaard will serve as Senate Co-Chair of the Law Revision Committee and Joint Survey Committee on Criminal Penalties.
“Fostering public safety has been a constant of my adult life, and I am eager to hit the ground running in the upcoming session,” said Wanggaard, a former police officer. “I look forward to working with committee members to address the “crime crisis” that is holding back economic growth in some areas of the state. I also intend to continuing working on domestic violence, victim’s rights and second amendment issues.”
In addition to his chairmanships, Wanggaard will also again serve as vice-chair of the Senate Labor and Regulatory Reform Committee, the Election and Utilities Committee and the Joint Legislative Council.
Wanggaard’s district includes most of Western Kenosha County.
