Randall School Student Council presented a check in the amount of $1000 to Canine Companions for Independence on Dec 6.

Ron Balint, a puppy trainer and representative for Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) spoke to the student council at Randall and accepted the check. Randall Student Council and the Veteran’s committee worked together to organize several events to raise money for this organization. On Oct. 18, they held a Culver’s Night in Lake Geneva, and on Nov. 29 they had another Culver’s Night in Burlington. At each of these events, Culver’s donated 10 percent of their sales back to Randall for this cause.   A Pay-to-Play was also held at Randall. For a $1 donation, students were able to bring a stuffed animal companion to school for a day. All these events raised $953. Randall Student Council donated the remaining amount to bring the total to $1,000.

Founded in 1975, Canine Companions for Independence is a non-profit organization that provides highly trained assistance dogs to needy individuals. Randall asked that its money be ear-marked for veterans in need of a service or therapy dog.
