The Westosha Central High School chapter of Mu Alpha Theta hosted its second annual middle school math meet on Dec. 9.
Mu Alpha Theta is a national mathematics honor society for high school students. Students in Mu Alpha Theta are enrolled in at least three years of mathematics courses and maintain a B average in mathematics to be eligible. Currently, Rebecca Kettler and Lisa Carnahan are advisors.
The Central Mu Alpha Theta students were involved in every phase of the project. They wrote the contest questions, organized snacks and awards for the event, and proctored and graded the contest rounds.
The schools that participated were: Lake Geneva Middle School, Christian Life School, Bristol School, Trevor-Wilmot Grade School and Randall Consolidated School.
6th grade individual winners were:
- 1st place: Grace Lasch, Trevor-Wilmot.
- 2nd place: Nick Argersinger, Bristol.
- 3rd place: Arlen Palmen, Bristol.
7th grade individual winners were:
- 1st place: Zachary Blasiman, Lake Geneva.
- 2nd place: Dom Rizzo, Lake Geneva.
- 3rd place: Sydney Fontaine, Trevor-Wilmot.
8th grade individual winners were:
- 1st place: Jacob Loose, Randall.
- 2nd place: Mikaela Wynhoff, Bristol.
- 3rd place: Curtis Knaack, Lake Geneva.

Second place winners for overall team score: Randall Consolidated School — Chase Meyers, Grace Bednar, Izabella Haley, Chase Kocken, Lindsey Franklin, Blake Weaver.
