Snow update: Just a little overnight; more coming

snowword-mf-jdurham-webAt about 7:50 a.m. Saturday, we measured at westofthe.com headquarters in Paddock Lake just an additional .5 inch of snow accumulation since 10 p.m., Friday. That would be a total of 3.5 inches since snow started falling at about 2:40 p.m. Friday.

A winter storm warning remains in effect until 9 p.m.

If you’re disappointed in that amount, don’t fret. The National Weather Service says there’s more on the way.

Snow should start up again by 3 p.m., though there’s a slight chance it could start earlier. The forecast calls for a total of 1 inch of daytime accumulation.

The conditions look uglier tonight. Snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is forecast. Temperatures will be dropping with a low of -3 forecast. Wind will be picking up with 10 to 15 mph winds and 30 mph gusts. Blowing snow is expected between 1 and 4 a.m. Sunday. Wind chill values expected between -5 to -10.

Don’t count on any warm-up for Sunday. The high temp is expected to reach just 0 with wind chill values of -15 to -25. Temps will be dropping Sunday during the day with a temperature of -14 and wind chills values of -25 to -30.

A warming trend of sorts starts Monday, however. Highs in the forecast for early next week are: Monday, 14; Tuesday, 27; Wednesday, 31; Thursday, 32; Friday, 31. Those are sounding downright balmy!
