At about 10: 25 p.m., we measured about 1.5 inches of snow accumulation in Paddock Lake since about a 4 p.m. start.
Roads have been covered for hours and snow is expected to continue through Sunday. A winter storm warning is in effect from the National Weather Service until 8 p.m., Sunday.
If you do have to travel, here are some tips from the state Department of Transportation:
- Clear snow and ice from all windows and lights before driving.
- Go slow. Remember the posted speed limits are for dry pavement.
- Leave plenty of room for stopping.
- Leave room for maintenance vehicles and plows.
- Use brakes carefully. Brake early. Brake correctly.
- Watch for slippery bridge decks, even when the rest of the pavement is in good condition.
- Don’t get overconfident in your 4×4 vehicle.
- Don’t use your cruise control in wintry conditions.
