UPDATE: Man dies from injuries in Monday crash in Salem

The man who sustained serious injuries as the result of a crash on Highway K in Salem on Monday has died.

Cody L. Grinus, 18, of Kenosha, was transported by ambulance to  St. Catherine’s Hospital in Pleasant Prairie where he later died, said a Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department media release.

The other occupant of the vehicle, Cody Athey-Childers, 20, of Union Grove, was transported to the hospital and released with minor injuries.

On November 21. 2016 at 12:22 PM, Deputies responded to a roll over crash in the 21900 block of 60th Street in the Town of Salem.  On arrival Deputies located a 2008 Mitsubishi that had been westbound on County Highway K at a high rate of speed and lost control while negotiating the curve at that location.  The vehicle left the roadway and rolled over ejecting the operator who was not wearing a seatbelt.  The seat belted passenger survived the crash with minor injuries. The operator was transported to St. Catherine’s Hospital in Pleasant Prairie where he later died.  The deceased was identified as 18 year old Cody L Grinus from the City of Kenosha.  The injured party was identified as 20 year old Cody Athey-Childers of Union Grove, who was transported to the hospital and released with minor injuries. The investigation is continuing, excessive speed appears to be the predominant factor in this crash.
