Students at Wheatland Center School celebrated and thanked veterans at a program Friday morning at the school.
The Veterans Day ceremony was held in the gym and was attended by all students and a sizable contingent of veterans and family members.Before he assembly, vetrans and fa,ily emmebrs were treated to breakfast at the school.
The program included:
- Presentation of colors by Boy Scouts.
- Singing of the National Anthem, led by 5th-8th grade choir.
- Selected fifth and sixth grade students presenting the history of Veterans Day.
- 4K, 5K and first grade students singing “American Solider.”
- Select third grade students reading a veterans poem.
- Select fifth and sixth grade students singing “Grand Old Flag.”
- Select sixth grade students singing “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”
- Individual recognition of all veterans in attendance. (Here’s a list of WCS affiliated veterans from Friday’s printed program)
- A moment of silence.
- Playing of taps by the 7th and 8th grade band.
- Retrieval of the colors.

Wheatland Center School does a phenomenal job every year with their veterans program. They kick off the function with a great breakfast. Our veterans have a heartfelt experience.
