Registration, donations open for programs at The Sharing Center

the-sharing-center-logo-with-tagEach year, The Sharing Center is able to make the holidays a little brighter by providing gifts for eligible families in Western Kenosha County. Last year through the generous support of community members and organizations, nearly 400 children received warm clothes, shoes, boots, coats, blankets, and educational gifts. These supporters are lovingly referred to as the center’s “Christmas Elves”.

Qualifying families (with children birth-high school age) meeting specific income and Western Kenosha County residency guidelines can sign up to be sponsored.  Families provide a wish list of their child’s needs to be shared with the sponsor.  Families wishing to be sponsored can obtain registration forms at The Sharing Center 25700 Wilmot Rd. Trevor, WI 53179 (Monday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m./ Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m./Friday: 9 a.m. to noon), online at, or via email at   Completed forms must be returned on or before Nov. 18.

Families who miss the deadline will have access to some basic general gifts up until Dec. 23.

Gift adoption:  The center is currently seeking sponsors to “adopt” children this holiday season. Whether you adopt one child or as a business choose several, your generosity and compassion are very much appreciated.   Sponsors and children are paired anonymously.  Using the child’s gift list (basic needs/educational toys) the sponsor purchases gifts and returns them unwrapped to The Sharing Center no later than Dec. 2.  Your generous contributions may be the only gifts under the tree this year for that child.  Sponsor applications are available at The Sharing Center, by emailing or online at

The Sharing Center also welcomes the donation of educational gifts to be provided to children who are not sponsored or whose families have missed the registration deadline.  These gifts can be brought to The Sharing Center anytime up until Dec. 21.

Holiday food donations:  Thanksgiving and Christmas food donations are welcomed with no registration required. Holiday food needs include turkey, ham, or chicken, potatoes, gravy, stuffing, and pie/dessert.

Holiday Foods will be accepted now through Dec. 21.
