Virtual Dementia Tour Experience coming to Community Library Oct. 27

Kenosha Family and Aging Services will be offering the Virtual Dementia Tour Experience on Thursday, Oct 27 at the Community Library, Salem.

The Virtual Dementia Tour will be available from 2-4 pm.

The hands-on experience helps participants better understand the issues facing the caregiver and the person living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias by altering their senses.

There is no cost and the experience takes about 20-30 minutes. Registration is required. Please call Patty Collins at Kenosha Family & Aging Services, Inc. at 262-658- 3508, ext. 120 for information and to register.

The Experience includes:

  • Temporarily altering your physical, sensory and cognitive abilities to simulate changes associated with aging and dementia
  • Completing five simple tasks during the 10 minute tour.
  • By walking in their shoes for a short time we can develop a sense of how we might feel and what might make us more comfortable if we were the ones with dementia.
  • Sharing reactions and feelings after completing the tour.
  • Reference material and ideas on what we can do to create a better environment for those we care for who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias.

From start to finish the tour takes less than 30 minutes.
