Units responding for crash in Wheatland

At about 2:05 p.m., Town of Wheatland Fire Department and Twin Lakes Rescue units and sheriff’s deputies are responding to a report of a crash in the 6700 block of 400th Avenue (Highway P) in Wheatland.

Per dispatch: Multiple vehicles involved.

UPDATE 2:16 p.m. — Traffic on 400th Avenue being blocked by deputies in both directions.

UPDATE 2:21 p.m. — Scanner transmissions indicate a helicopter landing zone being set up at the scene of the crash.

UPDATE 2:25 p.m. — Per dispatch: McHenry based Flight for Life medical transport helicopter unable to respond. Waukesha-based FFL helicopter just returning to base from a flight and needs to refuel before responding. 35 minute estimated time of arrival.

UPDATE about 2:30 p.m. — Deputy reports a patient that was trapped has been freed from one vehicle.
