UPDATE: Vehicle on fire in New Munster was occupied

A pick-up truck on fire in a parking lot in New Munster Friday morning was occupied, a Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.

The identity of the person in the vehicle has not been released as of 8:39 a.m., said Sgt. Eric Klinkhammer, KCSD public information officer, in a media release.

Bystanders reportedly tried to get the person out of the vehicle, Klinkhammer said.

The incident is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department.

The car was in a parking lot of a store in the 6500 block of 352nd Avenue in New Munster.
