UPDATE: Victim in Salem explosion still hospitalized

The man injured in the explosion of a personal water craft in Salem on Saturday is still hospitalized Monday, a Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.

Michael Przlomski, 52, was injured in the incident, which took place in the driveway of his home in the 24800 block of 82nd Street.

Town of Salem Fire/Rescue personnel and sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a explosion at the address at about 8:55 a.m., Saturday. They found Przlomski with serious injuries and debris from the explosion spread over the yard.

Preliminary findings indicate the victim had parked the personal water craft in the driveway. It appears as though the ignition was operated on the machine that may have caused the explosion due to gasoline fumes, the KCSD spokesman said.

The home suffered only cosmetic damage.

The incident is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department. At this time the explosion is not considered to be suspicious, said Sgt. Eric Klinkhammer, KCSD public information officer.
