The Lance Park beach on Lake Mary (Note: Lake corrected from earlier version — DH) in Twin Lakes will be posted with caution signs after an E.coli test this week at that location showed 285 E.coli/100 mL.

The water at the Lance Park beach will be resampled Wednesday.

Other weekly test results for some Western Kenosha County lakes showed E.coli levels below beach warning or closure levels.

Results reported Wednesday, Aug. 3 by the Kenosha County Health Department were:

  • Salem — Silver Lake County Park, 12 E.coli/100 mL.
  • Paddock Lake — Old Settlers Park, 1 E.coli/100 mL; North Shore Beach Association, 1 E.coli/100 mL; Hoag Beach, 5 E.coli/100 mL.
  • Wheatland — Lilly Lake, 16 E.coli/100 mL.
  • Twin Lakes — Sunset Beach, 109 E.coli/100 ml; Musial beach, 15 E.coli/100 ml; Lucille Beach 19 E.coli/ml.

The State Department of Health recommends posting warnings at beaches when the test results indicate a E.coli level of 300/100ml or more and closing a beach when test results exceed E.coli 1000/100ml. Wheatland (Lilly Lake) has a policy of posting an advisory for a level of E.coli 235/100 mL or more and closing a beach when test results exceed E.coli 1000/100ml.
