WisDOT announces start of work on Highway 165

road-workIt’s actually east of the I, but the state has announced some roadwork in Pleasant Prairie that could effect many Western Kenosha County  residents heading that way.

Form a media release:

On Monday, July 18, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is scheduled to begin work on a resurfacing project on WIS 165 from I-94 to WIS 31, in Kenosha County. Located within this approximate three-mile project is a two-to-four lane expansion between Corporate Drive and Terwall Terrace. This includes building a new bridge over the Des Plaines River, while rehabilitating the existing bridge with a polymer coating. This work will create twin bridges to accommodate the lane expansion. The existing roadway will receive base patching, along with a mill and overlay. Long-term, single lane closures will be in effect in each direction. Some congestion may occur with these closures. Built in 1988, WIS 165 is in need of maintenance due to the deteriorating pavement structure. In the segment being expanded, traffic volumes have reached a level that warrants additional capacity. The contractor, Cornerstone USA LLC, is planning on completing the $8.2 million project in early summer 2017. Project construction will shut down over the winter. The project also includes wing wall repairs on the WIS 50 eastbound bridge of the Des Plaines River. Single lane closures will take place to facilitate this operation. The work on WIS 50 is anticipated to begin late July and finish this September. The schedule of work is weather dependent and subject to change.”
