Were you among the Western Kenosha County residents who experienced a power outage early Friday morning?

If you were wondering what was up since weather — the usual culprit — was stable, here is an explanation from We Energies spokesman Brian Manthey:

The outage was caused by a downed power line near 3400 376th Ave. around 4:30 a.m. and it lasted 45 minutes. There was no apparent cause for the line to have dropped from the pole. Often equipment can become weakened or damaged by storms but continue to function. The time it actually fails could be on a day when there isn’t a weather event that could be pinpointed as the cause.”

So maybe it was weather after all.

In Salem, our power went out at 1am and didn’t come back on until 4:15am. This was probably a seperate incident.
