Wisconsin grocery retailer Festival Foods has announced plans to purchase Marv & Alison’s Sentry Foods in Paddock Lake.

Festival Foods, which operates 22 other locations throughout the state, plans to call this store Lakeside Sentry and begin operations May 10. Unlike other Festival Foods, the 27,500-square-foot store will maintain the Sentry Foods brand.

Mark Skogen, president and CEO of Festival Foods, said the company is eager to welcome the new location and its associates.

“We are pleased that we were able to reach an agreement with current owners Marv and Alison Jenkins that will result in a continuation of family-owned grocery stores in the area now and far into the future. We are looking forward to serving Sentry Foods’ guests at the store.”

Skogen added that the Paddock Lake area represents a key opportunity to better serve Festival Foods’ growing customer base throughout southeast Wisconsin.

“We are honored to become a member of this great Wisconsin community,” Skogen said.

Marv Jenkins said he and his wife, Alison, were approached by several companies that expressed interest in buying their store due to growth in the region. “We’ve resisted these efforts until Festival Foods showed interest. We knew Festival Foods would be a fit because of their reputation of integrity and commitment to the best perishable departments in the upper Midwest.”

He added, “We knew that the customers we loved and valued, as well as the wonderful employees who have worked with us over the years, would benefit greatly by this transition. We are proud to ‘pass the baton’ to a wonderful, family-and employee-owned company like Festival Foods.”

Marv and Alison Jenkins purchased the store in 1999 from previous owners Doug and Donna Drake.

Festival Foods is a family- and employee-owned company founded in 1946 as a Skogen’s IGA that began operating as Festival Foods in 1990. It employs 5,500 full- and part-time associates and operates 22 full-service, state-of-the-art supermarkets throughout Wisconsin. Festival Foods is a culture-driven company committed to servant leadership, community involvement and building relationships with guests and associates.

Loved festival foods when I lived in kenosha. Moved out to salem a few years ago and have still been driving back into town to shop there. Glad they are moving closet to me. Looking forward to it.
