Barry Road and Park Lane to be bid out as Twin Lakes’ summer road projects

Twin Lakes will request bids for resurfacing of Barry Road and Park Lane as this summer’s road paving projects.

The Village Board discussed the projects at Monday’s committee of the whole meeting.

The board decided to include in the request for bid storm sewer work in the Park Lane/Swallow Road area designed to help mitigate water that stands in a ditch there except in the driest of times. The drainage work is expected to add about $30,00 to the project.

As for the road, the board will seek bids on milling off two inches of the road surface and overlaying with new pavement.

On Barry Road, milling off the current surface and then overlaying with new pavement also will bid. The board also agreed to include a request for an alternate bid for reshaping of the street to give it more of a crown. That should help the road drain and improve the pavement’s life. However, some board members were concerned that the reshaping could be cost prohibitive or cause problems by changing drainage in the area.

“We can decide that based on the numbers that come back,” said village President Howard Skinner.

The board is hoping to be able to award the bid in June so work can be completed this summer.
