Drew Halbesma named new principal for Wheatland Center School

Drew Halbesma has been named the new principal of Wheatland Center School

Halbesma is currently the co-principal at Lake Geneva Middle School, district administrator Marty McGinley said in an email distributed Monday. Halbesma will start his new position July 1.

“The district is excited to welcome Drew into the Wheatland family,” McGinley said. “We are confident that his professional experiences, and personal strengths will serve the Wheatland community well.”

Halbesma will begin his duties at Wheatland July 1. He was approved as principal at the March Board meeting.

Halbesma succeeds Pattie Clements, who resigned in the fall to accept another position in Kenosha.

About the selection process, McGinley said:

The process of choosing a principal for Wheatland Center School began with posting for the position in late January. There was a great deal of interest in this position and the candidate pool was full of qualified and experienced leaders. We had multiple opportunities for input from different stakeholder groups, including staff members, teachers, students, and parents. We were able to narrow the candidate pool to six applicants and then we conducted an extensive interview process that allowed us to select the best candidate for Wheatland.”
