Paris School was visited Friday by a couple members of Native Pride Arts.
Larry Yazzie, is Artistic Director and founder of the group, based in St. Paul, Minn. They seek to inspire, motivate and educate though music and dance. Yazzie is also two-time World Champion Fancy Dancer and member of The Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa/Meskwaki. His dancing has taken him all over the world.
For two weeks the school will study Native Americans and their culture as part of their annual literacy unit. Students will explore the subject through reading, projects, and presentations, such as this. The results of the students’ efforts will be on display at the school’s spaghetti dinner March 12.
