16 Wheatland Center students to be published in 2016 Southern Lakes Anthology

Wheatland Center School recently participated in the Southern Lakes Anthology writing contest.  The title of this year’s anthology is “Anything but Ordinary.”

Sixteen of Wheatland’s students had their writing or artwork chosen for publication.

Student work is judged on creativity/originality, technical skill, clarity of message, and overall quality.

Third grader, Elayna Browers, received special recognition this year.  In addition to having her piece included in this year’s anthology, her piece was selected to be read aloud at the reception in Whitewater on May 25.

Students that had their work selected for publication were (listed with name, category and title of work):

  • Grade 3 — Lucas Ellingson, Cartoon, Look Out Below!; Elayna Brouwers, Poetry , Sounds of the Season; Brooke Mason, Poetry, The Outdoors;     Alyssa Nutile, Poetry, Mudskippers; Elise Williamson, Art, Two Head are Better Than One; Safyire Guthrie, Poetry, Book Love.
  • Grade 4 — Molly Schwertfeger, Art, Strange New World.
  • Grade 5  — Addison Morehouse, Prose, Just Another Day.
  • Grade 6 — Grace Curran, Cartoon, The Forecast.
  • Grade 7 — Sydney Laitamaki , Illus. Writing, Masks.; Katherine Weidner,  Poetry,  My Unique Friendship; Anna Carroll, Poetry, Family; Alena Ekornaas, Poetry, Night.
  • Grade 8 — Tatiana Cordova, Art, Reaching; Nicole Lootans, Prose, The Not So Normal Christmas; Gabrielle Gasser , Poetry, Reality to Dream.
