Sunday morning incident brings SWAT team to Paddock Lake

kcsd-doorAn over three-hour standoff in Paddock Lake early Sunday morning brought out the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department Tactical Response Team (SWAT).

The incident occurred in the 24900 block of 71st Street, starting at about 12:40 a.m.  A resident there became intoxicated and then upset at a family gathering, said Sgt. Dan Ruth, Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department public information officer.

That subject, at one point, retreated to a downstairs bedroom and stated he had a rifle, placing the barrel of the rifle through the door, Ruth said. The subject’s wife, children and a few other family members safely exited the home.

The SWAT team then was activated. At approximately 3:30 a.m.,  members of the SWAT team entered the home and took the subject into custody for Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Damage to Property, and Endangering Safety by use of a dangerous weapon (Domestic Violence Enhanced), Ruth said.

There were no injuries.

This was the second SWAT team activation in as many days in extreme cold conditions, Ruth said.  The other incident occurred Friday night in Kenosha.
