The Central High School Performing Arts Department hosted the second annual Middle School Honors Band and Choir Festival on Jan. 13.
Approximately 75 band and 38 choir students from area middle schools were invited to work with Adam Scheele, CHS band director, and Rob Clark, CHS choir director, to enhance their music skills and gain exposure to advanced learning opportunities. Lead by the high school directors, and supported by music directors from Bristol, Brighton, Paris, Salem and Wheatland schools, the students learned a variety of arrangements. The event provided an opportunity for students from across the county to meet and understand the expectations of high school programs. The day concluded with a performance for the general public at 7 p.m. in the CHS cafetorium. The band and choir each performed three pieces and concluded with the groups coming together to perform a medley of music by The Beatles.
Scheele encouraged students and parents to continue to participate in and support available music programs, regardless of the high school the students ultimately attend.
