The Aquanuts water ski team based in Twin Lakes is planning a New Year’s Day show — if the weather cooperates.
The show will start at 1 pm. on Jan. 1 at Lance Park in Twin Lakes.
A New Year’s Day show would be a first for the group, said Eric Fauth, an Aquanuts member.
“This is the first time we have put together a winter show,” Fauth said. “About 10 years ago, a bunch of us just skied for fun. But it was not an organized show.”
This year’s warmer than usual weather got some in the group thinking about an actual show this time around.
“A couple of us were just joking around about doing something because of the warm weather,” Fauth said. “As we started to get closer, the weather looked like it was still going to stay warm so we decided to run with it.”
About 30 people are ready to be in the show, Fauth said.
Of course Mother Nature could derail the plan. Temperatures are forecast to dip later this week. If ice forms on Lake Mary, the show will be called off.
