Volunteers are needed for the free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to help provide tax preparation assistance, quality review, client registration and language interpretation.
Tax assistance is offered at multiple locations in Kenosha County:
- Twin Lakes Community Library – 110 S. Lakeshore Drive, Twin Lakes.
- Salem Community Library – 24615 89th Street, Salem.
- Kenosha County Job Center – 8600 Sheridan Road, Kenosha.
- ELCA Outreach Center – 6218 26th Ave, Kenosha.
- Northside Kenosha Public Library – 1500 27th Ave, Kenosha.
United Way of Kenosha County is working in partnership with Carthage College, the Kenosha County Job Center, Gateway Technical College and other community organizations to support the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, which provides income tax preparation services for low-to moderate income individuals and families earning $53,000 or under. Free and flexible training is available online or in classroom settings. No prior experience is necessary.
Help your fellow community members by volunteering a few hours per month to prepare taxes for those unable to afford it. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please respond by Jan. 10, 2016.
