Units responding for silo smoke in Brighton

At about 2:46 p.m., Town of Salem Fire/Rescue units and Bristol Fire and Rescue units and sheriff’s deputies are responding for a report of smoke coming from a silo in the 5900 block of Highway EW.

Per dispatch: Smoke reported by an off-duty Paris Fire and Rescue member. No flames seen.

This appears to the the same silo that has prompted a fire response twice in last two weeks.

UPDATE 2:48 p.m. — Fire unit arriving on scene confirms smoke coming from silo.

UPDATE 2:50 p.m. — Box alarm for tankers only activated by Salem F/R command. Randall Fire Department ladder truck also requested to respond to the scene.

UPDATE 2:55 p.m. — Responding with tenders for the box alarm: Silver Lake Fire Department and Paris Fire and Rescue to set up a dry hydrant at the landfill site.

UPDATE 2:57 p.m. — Salem F/R command says responding units can respond non-emergency.

UPDATE 2:58 p.m. — Silver Lake FD tender unable to respond. Newport will be requested instead.

UPDATE 6:35 p.m. — Salem F/R command strikes box alarm.

    Yup…I went back to this story…and I was right…Silver Lake fire was unable to respond to THIS call as well.
