Bristol marked its upcoming change in fire chiefs at a ceremony held at Monday’s regular Village Board meeting.

Chief Peter Parker, who is retiring as of Dec. 31, was presented with a plaque acknowledging his service to the department and Bristol.

Incoming Chief John Niederer, who starts his new duties officially on Jan. 1, 2016, was also sworn in as the new chief.

There were about 30 people present in support of both Chief Parker and Chief Niederer, said village administrator Randy Kerkman.

A cake and coffee reception was held after the meeting.
