Lime green color of Paddock Lake on Wednesday due to testing

If you thought Paddock Lake looked a little lime green Wednesday your eyes were not deceiving you.

As village administrator Tim Popanda explained in an email to village officials and local media:

In an effort to discover infiltration of ground water entering our sanitary sewer collection system, the sanitary sewer staff dye tested the storm water catch basin on 248th Ave. The good news is that the dye test determined that a cross connection does not exist between storm and sanitary. The bad news is that the dye (lime green) has made its way into the lake. This dye that is being used is environmentally safe and will dissolve in a couple hours. The dye is the same dye used by the City of Chicago when they treat the Chicago river on St Patrick’s day.

But will it become a tradition?
