Central High School winter band concert is Dec. 16

music notes-sxc-Robert Proksa_optJoin the Central High School Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and Jazz Central, under the direction of Adam Scheele, for the Winter Band Concert on Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. at Westosha Central High School, 24617 75th St., Paddock Lake.  Admission is free.

The community is invited to enjoy a wide variety of holiday songs, from traditional carols to winter themed songs to holiday movie favorites. The event will include music from Polar Express, The Nutcracker and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. In addition, the work of composers such as Leroy Anderson, Peter Tchaikovsky, Darren W. Jenkins and Robert Buckley will be featured.

Audience members are encouraged to dress with the evening’s theme of “ugly holiday sweaters” or other festive holiday attire. Band members will be wearing their favorite “ugly sweater,” hats, scarves, lights, ornaments, and holiday themed items.

The Music Parents Association will be selling Butter Braids in a variety of flavors at the event.  The frozen pastries are $13 each and all funds raised go to support the performing arts at Central High School.
