Spring of 2015 brought new ideas for Red Ribbon Week in schools across Western Kenosha County.
County school counselors met with Sharon Pomaville, the executive director of The Sharing Center, which is Western Kenosha County’s Food Pantry and Resource Center. Pomaville indicated that food and nutrition are a primary need throughout the year, but during the winter months there are never enough socks to keep clients feet warm.
This year during Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 19-23, elementary schools of Western Kenosha County collected many socks for the Sharing Center. Schools that participated in the sock drive and their coordinators include: Bristol-Mary Gedemer-Jensen, counselor; Riverview-Laura Stutzman, counselor; Randall-Kathy Mudrock, counselor; Salem-Judy Richter and Virginia Vinsom, counselors; and Trevor-Wilmot-Brittney Christenson, counselor.
This time of year is a very busy time at the Sharing Center. If you need assistance and are eligible contact your local school counselor or call direct to the Sharing Center for assistance at (262) 298-5535. The Sharing Center is located at 25700 Wilmot Road in Trevor.
