Silver Lake village Trustee Roger Johnson is hosting a food drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Breezy Hill Nursery, Highways B and 50 in Salem.
Donations will benefit The Sharing Center.
Johnson will be accepting donations in the nursery parking lot. If the weather is wet, look for him inside the garden center building.
A list of current needs for the center supplied by Johnson included:
- Fresh potatoes.
- Gravy.
- Whole grain cereals, hot and cold.
- Brown and white rice.
- Soups and stews.
- Jelly.
- Toothpaste.
- Bar soap.
- Shampoo.
Thank you Roger and all who help out those this holiday season. The Center board, staff and volunteers greatly appreciate it!

Yesterday there was a wonderful fund-raiser for The Sharing Center at the Silver Suds in Silver Lake. Since all of the Dissolver candidates were talking up a storm about it, we figured they were going to use it as a campaign event, rather than the charity is was meant to be. Rather than add our presence and possibly bring about a disagreement between candidates, we left them to their campaigning-in-sheep’s-clothing.
True to form, today they are bragging about how the Sharing Center thinks they “truly have the best interests of the public in mind.” Yep, best interests in looking real good, best interests, just like the Memorial Day Parade when they marched all right…with Dissolver flyers and used the grieving families of the fallen as an excuse to promote their politics.
Sorry, Sharing Center, we have no desire to USE YOU.

Silver Lake StrongSilver Lake Strong Pretty sure none of those dissolver candidates ever studied political science. Did they ever study MATH? Did they ever study GOVERNMENT? Did they ever study BUSINESS? Oh, that’s right, we don’t know ANYTHING about them, other than they can promise the moon!

Silver Lake StrongSilver Lake Strong If those other candidates had a lick of political knowledge, they’d know you NEVER brag about holding a political event at the charity fund raiser. You DO it, you don’t brag later.
