Man guilty of death of Twin Lakes teen in 2013 crash sentenced to prison

The man who struck a Twin Lakes teenager who later died from his injuries in the June 2013 traffic crash was sentenced in Kenosha County Circuit Court Monday.

Thomas H. Johnston IV, 29, of Twin Lakes, had pleaded no contest to a charge of  homicide by use of vehicle-controlled substance. On June 14, 2013, Johnston struck Nathaniel Walter, 16, of Twin Lakes who was on a riding lawn mower along Highway HM near 342nd Avenue in Randall. Walter died on June 27, 2013 as a result of the injuries he sustained in the crash.

Judge Mary Kay Wagner sentenced Johnston to five years in state prison with 10 years extended supervision, online court records show. Johnston also will lose his driver’s license for five years.

So he’ll lose his license while he’s in prison? Not much consolation to the young man’s family.
