Elizabeth Marvitz selected for UW-Whitewater 2015-16 Vocal Jazz Ensemble

Elizabeth Marvitz, a sophomore music major from Trevor,  has been selected as a member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 2015-16 Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

The group performs various forms of music including jazz, swing, samba, ballads, bossa nova and contemporary pop, and develops an ability to improvise by singing scat music.

“Most of the singers did not have a great deal of experience improvising with their voices prior to this ensemble, so that has been a tricky and exciting opportunity,” said Sharri VanAlstine, director of the Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

This ensemble is an auditioned group open to all majors.
