Julie Harms was named the new Twin Lakes village clerk by the Twin Lakes Village Board Monday.
Harms will succeed Kathleen Richardson, who is retiring. Harms appointment will be effective Jan. 9, 2016.
Harms is no stranger to the village. She is the current deputy clerk, working her way up from a temp.
“We think she will do a great job,” said village administrator Jennifer Frederick.
Trustee Sharon Bowers said she did not object to Harms’ appointment, but she did think a representative or representatives of the Village Board should have been involved in the hiring process before the board appointment step. Trustee Barb Andres said she agreed with Bowers’ point.
Frederick said that could be accommodated in the future, but since no board member was involved earlier in the hiring process for village Treasurer/Accountant Ali Dowden, she did not realize board members wanted to be involved in the clerk process.
Harms appointment was approved by a voice vote with no opposition voiced.
