Randall School celebrated Veteran’s Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11 as it has for the past 10 years.

When veterans arrived, they were presented with handmade poppy corsages. These corsages were made by 4th and 5th grade students and the Art Excel students at Randall. Each veteran then had their picture taken for a commemorative print that would be waiting for them upon the end of the event.

Veterans, along with a guest, were treated to lunch in the multi-purpose room decorated for the occasion by students and staff.  A mural was created by students, and pictures of student and staff family veterans lined the walls. Students served the veterans at the tables and then escorted them to the gym for an all school assembly.

The assembly was hosted by students:  Shane Vacala, Caleb Massarelli, and McKinley Boyle.  The 7th and 8th grade concert band, concert choir and 6th grade choirs all performed in the assembly. Maddy Pedersen, a fifth grader, played taps.

John Quinnette executive director for the Fisher House for Military Families was present to accept a $500 donation. Randall students, staff, and community raised this money during a community outreach fundraiser at Culver’s, cash donations, and donations from Randall Student Council.
