If you see some smoke — or even quite a bit of smoke — on the east side of Paddock Lake it is likely from a controlled burn scheduled to take palce this afternoon.
From village administrator Tim Popanda:
Last month the Village building department issued a burn permit to Creative Edge Landscaping to conduct a controlled burn at The Piers condo complex. The project includes burning the invasive and native vegetation on the steep hillside from the lakes edge to the condo lawn. The landscape contractor has informed me that the burn will occur this afternoon. A great deal of smoke will be generated from the controlled burn and may cause residents to call trustees or the Village Hall. The Salem Fire dept. and KCSD are aware of the activities.
