Suspects sought in killing of Lake County police officer

A manhunt has been underway all day for three suspects accused of being involved with the fatal shooting of a Fox Lake Police officer.

Three men are being sought.

The slain police officer has been identified as Charles Joseph Gliniewicz, a 32-year veteran of the FLPD.

Descriptions of the suspects have been vague. While chasing them on foot, Officer Gliniewicz identified the suspects to his dispatch as two white men and one black man.

The Chicago Tribune reported that the search perimeter was bonded by Highway 12, Highway 59, Rollins Road to the north and Sayton Road to the west.

Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth has offered aid to the Lake County officials as needed, but no formal searching for the suspects in Kenosha County has taken place so far, said Sgt. Dan Ruth, public information officer of the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department.

UPDATE 3:38 p.m. — CNN reporting that one suspect has been captured.

UPDATE 4:23 p.m. — Town of Salem Fire/Rescue being requested to send an ambulance for a life safety box from Fox Lake.

UPDATE 6:15 p.m. — CNN now reporting that search is still for three suspects, stepping back from earlier report.
