The Lakeland Little League 9/10 year old All Star baseball team won the Wisconsin District 6 Championship Friday night.
The tournament was held at South Milwaukee Little League, starting Friday, July 17. The tournament is double elimination format.
Lakeland Stars dropped the first game of the tournament to Kenosha American. Lakeland rebounded with five straight wins to earn an opportunity to play for the championship. Lakeland would meet the Kenosha American team once again for the championship, but had to win both games of a doubleheader on Friday July 24.
Lakeland’s momentum carried the team to two 13-3 victories in 4 innings each, earning the championship.
Eight games over seven days showed the depth and determination of the squad.
Lakeland will now participate in the 9/10 year old Little League Wisconsin State tournament, Aug. 1-6 in Glendale.
Members of the team are: Nick Argersinger, Joey Pflug, Anthony Hall, Kade Scott, Jake Briggs, Dakota Veium, Max Weis, Ian Witt, Adam Switalski, Seth Brankey, Scotty Schulz, Max Robson.
