Work that will result in the installation of traffic signals at the Highways 50 and O intersection in Wheatland is set to begin Wednesday.
From a Wisconsin Department of Transportation media release:
On Wednesday, June 17, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will begin improvement work on the WIS 50/County O intersection, in Kenosha County. Improvements include adding traffic signals to the WIS 50/County O intersection, extending the eastbound and westbound turn lanes on WIS 50 and upgrading sections of the storm sewer. The contractor, Zignego, plans on completing the $692,000 project by mid-August 2015. The schedule is weather permitting and subject to change. During construction, the intersection will be open to through traffic. Motorists can expect to encounter: The eastbound and westbound WIS 50 median lane will be closed; traffic on WIS 50 will be unable to make a left turn onto County O; left turns for motorists on northbound and southbound County O will also be restricted. A signed detour will be provided along County P (Dyer Lake Road) and County F (Bloomfield Road). From July 23 to July 26, the intersection will be open to accommodate anticipated traffic due to a local event. As always, WisDOT urges motorists to remain alert and cautious when driving through a work zone.”
All good so far from what I can tell. As a local and frequent user of this exact intersection, I think it’ll be nice when it’s all said and done. I’ve had no issues with the construction. The construction people (or whoever) have been doing a good job with keeping it safe, and more importantly quiet! I can not wait to see it in action.
Good job everyone!
