Strong thunderstorm moving through area

WEATHER-ALERT-logo-all-3-webThe National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement regarding a strong thunderstorm making its way through the area.

The storm is expected to be over Silver Lake at about 1:40 p.m. and Paddock Lake at about 1:50 p.m.

Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail are possible with this storm.

UPDATE 1:47 p.m. — Kenosha County Emergency Services Warning Center now says NWS has issued a severe thunderstorm warning from 1:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

UPDATE 1:54 p.m. — Karen reporting hail in Salem.

UPDATE 1:55 p.m. — Check out this looping radar imaging to see how this storm just blew up out of nowhere.

UPDATE about 2:09 p.m. — Short burst of pea-sized hail in Paddock Lake:

UPDATE 3:55 p.m. — Social media posts suggest that there was more hail south of Highway 50. Saw photos of .5 to .75 inch hail in Silver Lake.

    There was some golf ball size hail in camp lake. I’m really surprised that there is no damage to our vehicles and the roof looks ok.
