An announcement from Salem Public Safety regarding access to roads near Salem School on Saturday:
The Salem Public Safety Office will be assisting the Salem Grade School with its’ 5k run/walk on Saturday, May 30 from 7 a.m. to noon. In the interest of public safety there will be restricted access to Highway AH from the school (Highway 83) west to 256th Avenue and 256th Avenue South to the Salem Community Park. Officers have been advised that 300 walkers/runners and likely strollers will be participating in this event. Officers will be posted to restrict vehicle traffic during this event and ask that driver’s find alternative routes during this time period other than residents residing in the immediate area.
In addition organizers of the Boy Scout Survival event at Salem Community Park advise to use the following alternate route to reach the park if they find Highway AH still blocked: Due to limited road access to the Salem Community Park for the Troop 328 Survival Challenge, anyone planning on coming out before 90 a.m. should enter the park via 256th Avenue. This can be accessed from Highway SA, west of Highway 83.
